The Harry Potter Era

It seems eerily strange that Harry Potter defines our present era. Do we feel the need for magical solutions to our seemingly insurmountable problems? Harry manages to survive the most lethal situations only to find himself, and his friends, in another confounding set of circumstances. Is Bush an analog for Harry? He too goes from one mess to another. I'm sure he wishes he had Harry's wand to wave around. He certainly engages in a great deal of wishful thinking and invokes the spectre of Al Queada as his favorite spirit.

The Decider claims infinite authority by virtue of being CIC. His backup is the Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales. The fallacy of this scenario is that the AG is now subject to impeachment for screwing up the policies of his office and thus diminishes his authority. The CIC has proven his ineptitude by making so many wrong decisions that the term "decider" has lost its authority
